RE: Letter of Application for Remote/Telecommuting Position

Dear Hiring Manager:

Thank you for the opportunity to apply for a customer service position with your distinguished company, Homebody Craft Vineyards. With the holidays upon us, I have already started researching this wine distributor by purchasing and consuming a substantial amount of product and can vouch for its quality. I am especially interested in the job because it is remote and would allow me to work from home, while continuing to taste test the wines for quality assurance purposes.

My work experience includes remote positions with a proven track record for multi-tasking while on the clock. I have successfully taken conference calls while also using the restroom, feeding my dog, changing my grandkids’ diapers, and watching “Suits” to stay current with the corporate world and high-end libations. Now that’s what I call productivity! Not to worry, if my Shih Tzu barks while I’m on a call, I can easily take calls in my garage or master closet while also clearing out some clutter. If the weather is nice, I can take my phone or laptop out to the patio and enjoy the fresh air, sunshine, and sound of my waterfall, the birds, and delivery trucks driving through the alley behind my house. Really, I can work from anywhere and get the job done!

Working remotely also ensures I will begin work on time. Since I can just roll out of bed and turn on the computer, I can be available to your customers whenever they need my services. The only thing I would ask is that they not use video features while on a call or chat. At my last job, I accidentally activated video capability during a conference call and the other participants commented on my lovely pajamas. And they weren’t even my best pajamas.

My resume is on its way! I just need to put some finishing touches on it, but rest assured, you will be impressed. I completed my online degree in just a little over a decade, so that is equivalent to ten years of post-graduate education! My work experience is just as impressive, but I will leave the details of that for later. I am confident you will be utterly surprised at my long list of employers.

Finally, if I am fortunate to be considered for an interview, I would appreciate having this occur over the phone or, better yet, via text messaging. As you can see, I have a lot going on at home and do not have the time and, at times, the sobriety to appear in person.

Thank you for your consideration of my application, and I look forward to working with you!

Cheers! 🍷
